REGISTRATION AND TRIALS

If you would like to play organised sport and represent the school you will need to register for your chosen sport by returning a signed permission form with parent/caregiver consent. Registration for sports’ are advertised in the daily sport notices so it is important you pay attention to these. Registration forms are available for collection from the sport department, or alternatively a generic ‘registration/permission form’ can be downloaded and printed from the resource section of this page (if registration forms are lost).

To be eligible to trial and be placed in a team you must return the relevant sport fee with the registration form. Once placed in a team it is expected that you fulfil a commitment to that team for the duration of the competition season, which involves attendance at all trainings and games. Failure to do so without valid excuse may result in exclusion from future teams.

It is expected that you make arrangements to attend all scheduled trials, as trial dates are set in advance and aimed at giving students the best possible opportunity to be seen. If you are unable to attend trials due to sickness, injury or exceptional circumstance you will need to contact the sport manager in charge of that code prior to trials.

COMPLAINTS POLICY

We request that all complaints are put in writing and addressed to the attention of the appropriate Sport Manager. In some cases it may be appropriate to direct complaints to the attention of the Director of Sport. Complaints regarding team trials and selection must be put in writing and sent no later than two weeks after the initial trial period.

AGE GROUPS

Many codes have different criteria for the age categories for each sport.

Year 7/8 - Students are expected to compete in their age group for their code, except where there is no team available girls may request to play up a grade at the discretion of the Sport Department.

Year 9 – 13 - Students are eligible to trial for selection into Premier Teams, however in some cases Junior’s (Year 9/10) are only able to trial by invitation.

For Athletics, Cross-Country and Swimming, and Tennis students compete in age-groups not year levels, school heats/trials are sometimes run in year levels however results are then sorted into age-groups in line with regional and national standards
