Registration for 2010

If you would like to play organised sport and represent the school you will need to register for your chosen sport.  In 2010 registration for all sports will happen in the first few weeks of term.  To register simply complete and return a signed Sport Permission / Trial Application form to the sports office during the registration period.

Students must have returned a signed permission form prior to trials.

Please Note:  If you register for a sport and are selected for a team you will be expected to fulfil all commitments to that team and will be invoiced for your participation in that sport.

Payment of Sports Fees

In most cases student participation in sport is accompanied by a sports fee. These fees go towards, National and Regional sporting levies and affiliation, entry fees, coaching, umpiring, equipment / uniform (if applicable) and administrational costs.

All sports fees are required to be paid in full prior to the code commencing.   If the sports fee applies to a one off event the fee must be paid before the student can be entered into the competition i.e. pay on application.

Please pay according to directions in the individual registration / permission letter for each code.  For some codes you will be invoiced or can select to be invoiced.  We accept credit card (by phone), internet banking (with specific reference and particulars issued with invoice) and cheque.  Cheques can be made out to Baradene College.  We do not accept cash for security reasons.

We appreciate your support in this area.

Sports Uniform

Each code and team will have uniform requirements as outlined by the uniform committee.  The generic items can be purchased from Elizabeth Michael.  No changes or additions to this uniform are permitted unless authorised by the uniform committee.

There are, however, through necessity a few codes that have their own uniform requirements. The V neck singlet, which applies to Athletics, Basketball, Touch and Volleyball, will be provided by the school.

Uniform owned by the school:

  1. Issued by the Teacher in Charge or Sport Coordinator at the beginning of the season
  2. It is then the responsibility of the student to launder and ensure the uniform is in good condition.
  3. The student is then required to return the laundered uniform back to the Teacher in Charge or Sport Coordinator at the end of the season.
  4. In some cases a uniform bond may be charged for the uniform.

School Exchanges

Baradene has a number of school sports exchanges that are held during the year.  Many of these exchanges operate on a yearly home and away basis.  The exchanges vary in location from Auckland and various other New Zealand locations; with some codes receiving the opportunity to compete in Australia against our sister schools.  Information on these exchanges can be obtained from the Sport Department.

Age Groups

Many codes have different criteria for the age categories for each sport.  Please ensure you confirm you are in the correct age category for your relevant sport.

Girls are expected to compete in their age group for their code, except where there is no team available girls may request to play up a grade.  For example – Year 7/8 girls must play in Year 7/8 teams, and Year 9 – 10 girls must play in Junior teams.
