Year 9 Physical Education
Welcome to the Baradene College Physical Education Department. This year you will
· develop skills and attitudes needed to maintain and improve your personal health and physical development.
· develop motor skills through a wide range of activities
· develop positive attitudes towards physical activity
· develop skills and attitudes that improve your relationships with other people
Uniform
The PE uniform is compulsory for all students.
· regulation Baradene College PE top
· regulation PE shorts
· non marking sports shoes
· Swimming Togs and Cap (Caps are available from the Sports Coordinator for $5.00)
· On mufti days you will be expected to wear correct PE uniform
Participation
Participation is expected at all times. In exceptional circumstances where participation is impossible a note must be provided to your PE teacher. If you have a specific injury or condition that prevents you from participating for more than 3 classes in a row, you need to provide a medical certificate.
Other expectations
· the PE office and storerooms are out of bounds
· respect all equipment
· all valuable items must be given to your PE teacher at the start of the period.
· as indicated on the Stationary List, you need to have a clear file and refill for PE and Health
Incorrect Uniform Procedures
A note needs to be given to your PE Teacher if you do not have the correct uniform
Non Participation
· If you do not bring a note to explain your non participation your non participation will be recorded (notes must be given at the start of the period)
· A detention will be given if you have two classes without proper gear
Note: When you have a note you may be asked to do written work or participate in the lesson in the best possible way.
It does not mean you are allowed to do nothing!!
Year 9 Outline of PE Units
Term One
Duathlon, Athletic Trials, Peter Snell Fitness Testing and Adventure Based Learning (ABL)
Term Two, Three and Four
Sports Education (Netball or Touch), Movement (Gymnastics and Dance), Striking (Softball, Badminton), Cross Country and Minor Games.
