Course Outline and Assessment for

Year 13 Physical Education

 

This course focuses on level 8 of the Health and Physical Education curriculum.  It will offer you the opportunity to experience and participate in a range of physical activities. You will analyse how the body moves and responds to physical activity and provide a programme to enhance your well being.  You will study current issues that affect the school community and the country. The topics covered will prepare you for future academic and vocational opportunities.

 

Key Outcomes

By the completion of this course you should be able to:

 

  1. Evaluate your personal health needs and identify strategies to maintain your personal well-being  (8A1)
  2. Meet and examine challenges in new environments and relate to personal well being needs (8A2)
  3. Analyse and evaluate information for interpersonal skills that enable people to be active community members (8C3)
  4. Appraise specialised motor skills in a particular sport (8B1)
  5. Apply specialised knowledge in biomechanics to improve the performance in a specialised activity (8B3)
  6. Demonstrate the use of health promotion strategies by implementing a plan of action to enhance well being (8D3)
  7. Develop and apply knowledge and understanding of the social, environmental and cultural factors that influence people’s involvement in physical activity; (8D4)

 

 

The Year 13 Physical Education course contributes credits towards the

Level 3 National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) and is covered in Six Modules of work.

Module 2:   Badminton and Biomechanics       Module 5:    Research

Module 3:    Rock Climbing                                   

There is a camp/kayaking fee of $370 and The Workbook is $25.  These fees were indicated in the course handbook and discussed when students were choosing options for 2010
