Welcome to Year 10 Performance and Production 2010

 

Welcome to Performance and Production.  This course will cover Dance, Drama and Media.  The emphasis is on practical work and producing work for an audience.

We will do some written reflection on our process, our learning and our goals for improving our learning.

 

We will work at level 5 of the Arts Curriculum.

This course aims to :

Give you a wide experience of the different aspects of performance and production

Develop your confidence in performance

Explore drama, dance and media elements, techniques and conventions, and give you the opportunity to use these

Develop your ability to express your ideas and to create through performance and production

Develop your ability to accept, build upon and be sensitive to the contributions of others in group situations

Develop your literacy in using drama, dance and media language, symbols and texts

Give you the opportunity to watch, appreciate and evaluate a variety of performance

Introduction to performance : games and improvisation

Teenage Issues :

Creating your own plays, using drama elements and conventions

 

Week 9

Group presents devised play exploring a teenage issue

 

Term 2

Weeks 1- 8

Thriller :   body, movement and space; dance elements and choreography

 

Week 8

Group presents choreographed performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller

 

Term 2

Weeks 9-11

 

Term 3

Weeks 1- 5

Making a short film :

Exploring film language and technical skills.  Making a short film telling a story.

 

Week 5

Present short film

Weeks 6-10

Weeks 1- 5

 

 

Stagecraft

Study theatre protocol, rehearsal procedures and theatre technologies

Performance and Production

Work with scripted plays and film.  Rehearse, film and perform.

 

Week 8

Present theatre/film performance including script and film for an audience.

 

Term 4

Weeks 6 - 9

Theatresports

Develop improvisation skills

 

Term 4 Week 9

Theatre Sports tournament

 

 

 

Stationery and Uniform

 

You will need to buy 2 x 1B5 exercise books to use for your written work. 

For all practical classes, suitable clothing must be worn.  This needs to give you freedom of movement and can include PE uniform, shorts, track pants
