Year 11 English
Outsiders and Outriders
Welcome to your first year of Senior English. Year 11 English builds on the skills and knowledge you acquired in years 9 and 10. Over the course of the year you will study a range of engaging and challenging texts, some chosen by your teacher and some by you, which share common themes and concerns. You will develop the ability to write effective literary essays that discuss the features of the texts you have studied. You will learn how to write creatively and how to present your understandings of literature through a static image and/or a dramatic presentation.

HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL AND ENJOYABLE YEAR
- Keep on top of your workload by using your diary to record deadlines and homework details.
- Make clear notes and keep them safe. When you have finished a topic, you might want to leave those notes safely at home for revising rather than risk losing them from your bag or on the bus.
And remember –
- at the start of the year you are not expected to know everything you will need to know to achieve in English this year. The work might be harder than you are used to at first. If you are really worried talk to you teacher quick smart!
- an essay is not to be feared; it is simply an opportunity for you to show what you know. Enjoy it!
