Year 7 & 8 Music
Music is an integral part of the Junior School.
The Core Music programme is intended to give students musical experiences through creating and appreciating music in activities. It covers a variety of music topics designed to build musical literacy. Students learn music from around the world, jazz and the main classical periods as well as offering a variety of learning opportunities including developing their keyboard, singing and music notation skills.
Students undertake activities as prescribed in the Arts Curriculum Music strands:
- developing practical knowledge
- communicating and interpreting music
- understanding music in context

There are many opportunities for year 7 and 8 students. Choir and several instrumental groups perform at school and community functions and inter-school competitions.
