Year 9 Music
This course is allocated Two periods in the Ten day timetable cycle. This year you will be studying Seven major topics. You will build up your general knowledge of music and theory notation, aural listening, history of music, music theatre and research, composition, solo and group performances.
This course aims to:
- Develop music literacy and numeracy through music history, theory and notation
- Develop performance skills, communication skills, building confidence and develop ability to accept, build upon and be sensitive to the contribution of others in group activities
- Develop ability to explore ideas through composing music
- Have the opportunity to watch, appreciate and evaluate a variety of performances
- Develop IT skills integrated through internet research, YouTube, MIDI, PowerPoint and Sibelius Music notation software
Assessment
Internal assessments including theory knowledge, research project, composition, solo and group performances.
Prerequisite
Music Itinerant or private tuition on an instrument or voice is required.
This course is open to any Year 9 student who has experience in instrumental playing and/or choral work.
Student who has experience in instrumental playing or vocal singing should participated in at least one music group in the school.
