Year 10 Music
This course is allocated Three periods in the Ten day timetable cycle. This year you will be studying SIX major topics. You will build up your general knowledge of musical knowledge, theory, listening, performance, composition and instrumentation.
This course aims to:
- Develop your performance skills, communication skills, building your confidence and develop your ability to accept, build upon and be sensivtive to the contribution of others in group activities
- Develop your ability to explore your ideas through composing music
- Give you the opportunity to watch, appreciate and evaluate a variety of performances
- Develop your music literacy and numeracy through music history, theory and notation
- Develop your IT skills integrated through internet research, YouTube, MIDI, PowerPoint and Sibelius Music notation software
Assessment
Internal assessments including theory knowledge, research project, composition, solo and group performances.
External examination including theory, aural listening, instrumentation and Sibelius notation skill.
Prerequisite
Music Itinerant or private tuition on an instrument or voice is required.
This course is open to any Year 10 student who has experience in instrumental playing and/or choral work.
Student who has experience in instrumental playing or vocal singing should participated in at least one music group in the school.
