ENROLMENT INFORMATION

Interviews for enrolments at Years 8 and 10-13 levels happen only when there is a vacancy, and will be spread throughout the year.

• Applications for Years 7 and 9 in 2011 are open.
• Applications for other year levels are taken at any time.

INTERVIEWS for Year 7 and 9, 2011 intake commence in March, 2010. These interviews are made giving you approximately two weeks notice.

The intake numbers will be 120 girls in Year 7 and 25-30 girls for Year 9. Baradene's possible intake is 95% Catholic and up to 5% from other backgrounds, according to our legal agreement with the New Zealand Government. All Catholic applicants are interviewed and a shortlist of other applicants is interviewed.
Feedback in recent years has indicated that advertising the following timeline and procedures would greatly help with family organisation and understanding.

Enrolment Timelines for Year 2011 Placements

Tuesday, March 2, 2010	Open Day. 6pm Principal’s Welcoming Address. 6.15pm guided tours through Chapel, Auditorium and classrooms. All welcome, including prospective students, parents and grandparents. Note: There are stairs on the tour route.
Monday, March 22, 2010	Enrolments for Years 7 and 9, 2011 intake CLOSE. (Upon receipt of an enrolment application, this is acknowledged on the attached return slip which will be mailed to you, a letter from the enrolment officer closer to your appointment time setting up an interview will be the next communication from the school.)
Monday, March 29, 2010	Estimated completion of Years 7 and 9, 2011 enrolment interviews. (All Catholic applicants and a shortlist of non-preference applicants are interviewed).
Thursday, April 1, 2010	Offers of place (or otherwise) mailed to families.
Tuesday, April 20, 2010	Families with an offer of place are required to confirm acceptance and pay the Term 1, 2011 financial contribution by this date. Failure to do so sees enrolment place forfeited. Please note this date for your own family budgeting purposes.

An enrolment application form can be downloaded below. Please note that at the Board of Trustees meeting of August 14, 2006, a decision was made to charge a non-refundable administration fee of $100 which is now applicable with each application, effective August 21, 2006.

Enrolment Procedure for New Zealand Residents

Complete an Enrolment Application Form (either download one from this page or request one from the College) and return to the College by the specified cutoff date. Ensure you send all the requested attachments.

COLLEGE FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS FOR 2010

Baradene College Limited is the Proprietor of the College and is responsible for the Parent Financial contributions. These fees show the GST exempt portion that qualifies for the Donation Income Tax Rebate and a tax receipt will be available from the Executive Office on request. The fees identified as being GST inclusive are based on the present GST of 12.5% and are subject to change by Government, this portion does not qualify for the Donation Income Tax Rebate.

 

The first member of each family pays full financial contribution (College Contribution).  For the second members of one family attending the College at the same time there is a discount of 5%, for the third and subsequent members of one family attending the College at the same time, there is a discount of 10% of the College Term Contribution.  This discount does not apply to attendance Dues, Activity Fees, and Camp Charges. Baradene College Special Character contributions are incorporated in the Senior and Junior Contributions.

 

The Proprietor has adopted a policy that all entrants should pay the College Contributions in advance.  Apart from the financial aspects of the prepayment the advance payment insures that parents will advise the College by at least one Term if they propose to withdraw their Daughter from the College. The first term entry amount is not refundable unless the student’s parents unexpectedly transfer or leave Auckland.

 

Attendance Dues

The Diocese of Auckland Common Fund has indicated that the Attendance Dues (including GST) for the Year 2010 will be $177.20 per term for Senior students, and $87.50 per term for Junior students and these are approved by the Ministry of Education under Section 36 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975 in respect of the groups of schools forming part of the Diocese of Auckland Common Fund.  The Attendance Dues are paid to the Auckland Common Fund and must be applied to the group of schools solely for authorised purposes under Section 36, of the Act.

 

Activity Fees

The Activity Fees are $210.00 (GST exempt) per term. These fees are used in the general operation of the College as a necessary supplement to the Operating Grant received from the Government.

 

Building Fit Out: the new building programme has required considerable specialised fittings not included in Government Grants. The amount of $80 (GST exempt) per term will assist with the loan repayment for these fittings.

 

College Magazine

The College Magazine is based on one per student and charged at $30.00 plus GST in Term 3.  The Board of Trustees sets this cost.

 

School Camps

The Annual Camp charges for Year 9 Term 1, 2010 is $290.00 and for Year 10 Term 4, 2010 is $380.00. These will be invoiced separately on behalf of the Board of Trustees.

 

Parent Teacher Association Levy

The Parent Teachers Association annual subscription of $10.00 per family is collected on behalf of the PTA. 

 

Master Development Plan

Stage one of this plan - the conversion and refurbishment of the Jubilee Block including the old Chapel into eight new classrooms, with Music, Drama suites and Computer facilities is complete. A Pavilion,(approx. three classrooms) for outdoor education has been completed for the use of Years 7 & 8. The further development of a Technology, Science and Art Centre is being completed as part of the continuing development of the College as scheduled in the Master Plan.

 

The Parent financial contribution provides for the Special Character programme within the College and assists in the repayment of bank loans which have been borrowed for the capital works and the new developments scheduled in the master plan.

 

Financial contributions requested from parents may be revised from time to time in the light of rising costs.  The College reserves the right to alter these requests during the year after advising parents.
