 French is a language that is widely spoken throughout the world: many of our Pacific neighbours are French speaking countries. French is the 10th most common first language in the world. About 130 million people speak French on an everyday basis. About 80 million people speak French as a first language (mother tongue), 50 million as a second language, and about another 200 million people as an acquired foreign language. French is the second most commonly-taught second language in the world (after English). Learning French gives students the opportunity to communicate with people all around the world and to become global citizens.

Baradene College was founded by Sisters from a French order, the Religieuses du Sacré Coeur de Jésus, and our ties with the French mother house and Sister schools remain strong.
