The 2026 Orienteering Schools Nationals were held in Christchurch at the end of the July holidays, featuring four days of competition: Relays, Long Forest, Sprint and Rogaine.
Christchurch delivered outstanding conditions, with crisp, chilly mornings that turned into spectacular sunny days.
Our 28 Baradene orienteers competed with determination and excellence throughout the event. Their collective efforts were rewarded with the two Top Awards, as Baradene was named Top Girls’ School in both the Years 7–8 and Secondary Schools (Years 9–13) categories. Every competitor’s result contributed to this outstanding achievement, and we congratulate all of our athletes for the outstanding way they represented the College. Our podium placings across the events were:

Relays:
Year 7/8 – GOLD (Sienna Moon, Freja Rameke, Eve Hanna), Silver (Rosie Richardson, Sophia Carrie, Sophia Baxter), Bronze (Hazel Roshan, Zoe Donoghue, Isabel Steuart) Junior – Silver (Stella Tanner, Alice Richardson, Beth Sullivan)
Intermediate – GOLD (Petra Slavich, Maggie Bauzon, Emily Reeves), Silver (Felicity Mortell, Ruby Blakie, Kara Morgan)
Senior – Bronze (Niamh Hoare, Dora Slavich, Orla Hoare)

Long Forest event:
Junior Championship – Bronze – Stella Tanner
Senior Championship – Silver (equal) – Niamh Hoare & Orla Hoare
Year 7/8 Standard – 1st Ramona Pearce, 2nd Sophia Baxter

Sprint event: 
Junior – GOLD - Stella Tanner
Senior - Silver – Niamh Hoare, Bronze – Orla Hoare
