ANZ Premiership Representation and a Silver Fern!

Baradene has had two alumnae break into the ANZ Premiership in recent years.

This is an outstanding achievement for Catherine Hall (Mystics) and Laura Balmer (Pulse), who graduated from Baradene in 2021 and are now playing in the highest-level netball league in New Zealand. Both players were significant contributors to our highly successful 2021 Premier Netball team, which won the Auckland Netball Centre Premier 1 Secondary Schools league. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the team missed the opportunity to compete in the Upper North Island Secondary Schools tournament and advance to the National tournament.

Catherine and Laura both stand tall in the back end of the court, challenging New Zealand's top shooters with their quick feet and disruptive reach. In the 2024 ANZ Premiership, Catherine played with the Mystics, leading them to victory and finishing the season as champions!

In the 2025 ANZ Premiership, Laura played with the Pulse, helping them reach the Top 3, while Catherine again competed with the Mystics, making it to the final but narrowly missing out on the title, finishing as the runner-up. Both athletes are also balancing their studies in their fourth year of medical school.

Laura has recently been named to the 2025 New Zealand U21 Netball World Youth Cup team, which will compete in Gibraltar on the world stage.

Catherine has been selected for the 2025/2026 Silver Ferns, marking an exceptional achievement!

It is inspiring to see Baradene alumnae representing women in sport on such a prominent platform. Baradene will always be cheering you on!
