Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini – My strength is not my own but the strength of many.

In celebration of the learning journey of our Māori Year 13 students and the achievements of our kapa haka group, whanau of Baradene came together for our Māori leavers dinner. Its was so wonderful to have a look back over the journey our Year 13 students have had in their time at Baradene, their achievements and all their involvement in sports and clubs in their time at school. Kei runga noa atu koutou - you are all amazing! It was a beautiful evening and we felt honoured to celebrate the evening with whanau from Ngāti Whatua o Orakei who brought a deeper knowledge of tikanga to begin the evening.

The kapa haka awards were presented to those who had been outstanding in each of the categories however it was not an easy choice as everyone had put in alot of time at Polyfest and throughout the year.

A special acknowledgement also goes out to Alyssa Lagor who took on the role as kaea in leading the songs at Polyfest. She was amazing! We are also grateful to our tutor Whaea Delaney.

Another fantastic year of kapa haka. Mauri ora.
