Victoria Carter has had a successful and diverse career as a significant leader contributing to Auckland’s cultural, philanthropic and business communities, including as an Auckland City Councillor, the first woman President of the Northern Club, and founder of City Hop, New Zealand’s first 'cars by the hour' car share company, just to name a few! In 2016, she received a New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to arts, business, and the community.

Community and giving back has always been important to Victoria. She served nearly 10 years with the Auckland Kindergarten Association as President, Vice President and Board member, revitalizing the governance processes, lobbying for better funding and enhancing the organization’s educational excellence. During her time as City Councillor, Victoria re-started the Auckland Arts Festival, creating a platform for New Zealand artists to be seen nationally and internationally. “Festivals are rich and good for a city’s soul, for the people in a city to have a sense of place, for the economy, for tourism, and of course for artists.” says Victoria.

After three years of crusading to save Laura Fergusson, Victoria is now the Board Chair and working to rebuild the vital facility that once did so much for Auckland’s physically disabled community.

Victoria has also given back to the Baradene community, speaking at school events such as prizegiving and careers evenings, sharing her knowledge with current Baradene students.

Victoria will be honoured as the recipient of the 2024 Cor Unum Alumnae Meritae Award at the annual Alumnae High Tea which is taking place on Sunday 20 October, 2pm - 4pm, in the Baradene College Atrium.
