Another superb National Champs has seen Baradene named Top Girls School in New Zealand (Year 9-13) and 2nd place in the Year 7-8 Year levels. A squad of 52 riders headed to Palmerston North to battle the wind, rain and a little bit of sunshine over the 3 days.

First up were the Team Time Trials. Our five Year 7/8 teams rode their hearts out with our A team placing 3rd (Isabelle Gibson, Freya Holland, Sienna Lushkott, Somer Tong). Both our Junior A and Senior A teams have battled against Epsom Girls Grammar all year, and both have been pipped at each outing – but not this time. In outstanding fashion both teams put out an incredible performance to come across with the fastest time, and a first for Baradene to have both the Junior and Senior teams take out Gold.
Junior A (Emma Blackmore, Alice Hopkinson, Ella Morton, Lydia Stevens)
Senior A ((Aimee Blackmore, Jorja Clouth, Grace Cummins, Erica Hipkins, Lara Hopkinson)

The next day was Road Race day, and the wind and hills played a major factor – congratulations to our top 10 placings:
U13 - Freya Holland 5th, Sienna Lushkott 8th, Jaime Sanderson 9th
U14 - Sophia Hyland 2nd
U15 - Emma Blackmore 5th, Bonnie Rattray 8th
U16 - Lydia Stevens 2nd, Ella Morton 3rd, Alice Hopkinson 6th
U17 - Jorja Clouth 4th, Alexandra Galvin 7th, Aimee Blackmore 8th
U20 - Lara Hopkinson 2nd, Grace Cummins 5th, Erica Hipkins 6th, Natalya Carter 7th

Final day was the Points Race at Manfield raceway. The day started off pleasantly for the younger riders but then gale force winds and rain set in to make tricky conditions for the seniors. We again congratulate our riders who placed in the top 10:
U13 - Freya Holland 3rd, Sienna Lushkott 8th
U14 - Sophia Hyland 3rd, Isabelle Gibson 9th, Mia Palao 10th
U15 - Bonnie Rattray 5th, Emma Blackmore 6th
U16 - Lydia Stevens 7th, Alice Hopkinson 8th
U17 - Jorja Clouth 2nd, Alexandra Galvin 6th
U20 - Lara Hopkinson 6th, Grace Cummins 7th

All these results plus the massive support from the entire squad contributed to gaining the Top Girls School for another year and wrapping up a fabulous season

Thanks to our wonderful coaches, led by Paul Leitch, and to all the parents who made the weekend the success it was.
