2017 New Zealand Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships

Last week 19 Baradene girls travelled to Masterton to compete at the Orienteering Nationals. Following three very successful days, we are proud to announce that Baradene has been awarded:

  • Top Girls School in New Zealand (Y9-13). All of the 10 girls competing in these age groups contributed to our overall success and saw the squad secure the top school title for the first time. It is over all Secondary age grades and extremely hard to win as requires depth over all age groups.  We were trailing Diocesan School in points going into the last day so needed a huge effort from our girls in the relays and they didn’t disappoint as the results below show. Special mention must be made of Penelope Salmon, who came 1st in all 3 junior events.
  • 2nd placing for our Year 7/8 team in their competition. This was a contribution from our 9 Year 7/8’s competing and is another great success and indicative of good things to come.

Our top 15 placings at the Championships were:
